eXploder Course Racing windfoils (Open Foil / Formula Foil)
After three years of R&D, several prototypes, improvements and iterations, hundreds of hours of computer simulation and on-water testing by the best sailors eXploder introduces windfoiling course racing set. We do not test our equipment on our customers, and before we put anything on the market, we make sure every detail has been tried and tested in competition by our team sailors. eXploder windfoils have already won several World and European Championships medals in Formula Foil Class. eXploder foils are also fully registered and legal to use in PWA competition.
Speed is nothing without control, eXploder windfoils offer unparalleled level of stability and control on upwind-downwind courses, letting a sailor to concentrate on all important aspect like paying attention to wind shifts, gusts and other sailors, while easily maintaining maximum speed on all points of sailing.
Our brand new 2020 course racing (up-downwind) windfoil set comprises of following components, all entirely dismountable:
ultra-stiff 95 cm pre-preg carbon mast,
one carbon pre-preg front wing – to choose from:
Large: 1000 cm2 / 100 cm span – powerful lightwind wing for heavy sailors
Medium: 900 cm2 / 100 cm span – best overall performance in broad range of conditions
Small: 860 cm2 / 90 cm span – strong wind / lightweight sailors
one ALU (6082) 120 cm long fuselage with super solid mast-fuselage interface (7 torx screws) and infinite angle adjustability of the rear wing, just by loosening 2 small mounting torx screws. A customer can choose from our 2 fuselage models, both measuring 116 cm*:
regular – mast mounting position 41 cm form leading edge of the front wing
light wind (recommended for heavy racers in light winds) – mast mounting position 46 cm form leading edge of the front wing
* – in eXploder foils the rearmost position of the wings / fuselage set is trailing edge of the rear wing, which protrudes up to 4 cm behind fuselage (depending on rear wing angle setting). To be within maximum allowable equipment rule (120 cm), the fuselage itself needs to be 4 cm shorter.
one carbon pre-preg rear wing (250 cm2; 50 cm span).
Complete windfoil Course Racing set is provided with set of eXploder covers, set of screws (except 2 tuttle box head screws) and an instruction manual.
For sailors, who would like to cover whole range of wind / sea conditions we also offer a super set with two front wings (to choose from our 3 sizes) and two fuselages (regular and light wind / heavy weight).
eXploder Slalom windfoils (PWA Slalom)
Windfoil slalom is new, rapidly growing format, adopted for 2020 and beyond by PWA. Due to higher speeds and reach / broad reach courses only, this discipline requires different components, mainly front wing and fuselage. Slalom foil doesn’t need that much low-end power as course racing foil, but needs to provide exceptional level of control at higher speeds.
eXploder slalom foil uses our regular, tried and tested, super stiff 95 cm mast and our regular 250 cm2 rear wing. Our 2 slalom front wings are designed specifically for the discipline:
Large slalom wing: 810 cm2 / 76 cm span
Small slalom wing: 750 cm2 / 66 cm span
Slalom front wings need to be positioned closer to mast, so the slalom fuselage overall length has been reduced to just 100 cm*.
* – there’s full mounting compatibility between all eXploder course racing / slalom parts, so sailors can (although it’s not recommended) mix course racing and slalom components as they wish.
Complete windfoil Slalom set is provided with one piece of each: mast, front wing, rear wing, fuselage), set of eXploder covers, set of screws (except 2 tuttle box head screws) and an instruction manual.
Caution: eXploder windfoil is a high performance equipment, finished to the highest standards to achieve maximum performance on a race course. Please be extremely careful while mounting and using it, as trailing edges of the mast and wings are very sharp!
